We are delighted to announce the signing of the resurging 1980’s indie band The Train Set!
In the mid to late 80’s The Train Set took the Manchester and Liverpool gig circuit by force with the support from their critically acclaimed singles released on Dave Haslam’s and Nathan McGough’s “Playhard” label. This cannoned them into a tour with the Happy Mondays (Bummed Tour) and gigs with James and others at places like The Hacienda, Astoria and Dingwalls, London.
After a 27 year hiatus, Firestation records got in touch with the band to discuss a possible compilation album of the band’s back catalogue. The attention from this album led to demand for the band to reform and in 2015, The Train Set decided to continue on their journey of indie music success. They started gigging again by playing Shiiine On Weekender in November sharing the main stage with The House of Love and Echo and the Bunnymen.
The success from their gigging and hit album, led them to receive some incredible reviews:
Tom Hingley’s Book ‘Carpet Burns’ – “The Train Set’s She’s Gone is one of Noel’s (Gallagher) favourite songs: he used to have the song on a compilation cassette that he brought on tour with us in 1989”.
Drunk On Music: ‘’Album of The Month’’ – “The album is 12 songs of unbelievable quality. It would have sat comfortably amongst its peers and at the top of the independent indie charts”.
The Train Set are now back in the studio recording their eagerly awaited second album since their reformation, which is to be released in 2017.
However in the mean time, have a look at their website, learn some more about the band and enjoy their music! – thetrainset.co.uk
