Milton Keynes alternative rockers Wah Wah Club are preparing for their third download single release ‘Alcoholic’ with a launch at The Craufurd Arms on Friday 21st July. .
The song tackles the difficult subject of alcoholism and the devastating effects it can have on the individual and everyone around them.
Band front man and songwriter Dan Buckland explains ‘Alcohol abuse can destroy people’s lives, it can make you homeless and leave you with nothing and we see this on the streets. But there are hidden drinkers. Ordinary people with a drink problem who still manage to function, maybe just about, and perhaps on the edge of holding down a job or losing their family. How and when does it all start going wrong?
Dan was moved to write this song about an ex-colleague, an older man, who began to talk to him about the pain. As a friendship developed he talked about the damage he had caused and how he lost everything through his addiction to alcohol. It’s a sad story of circumstance that is unfortunately a big issue in today’s society.
Wah Wah Club has gained a reputation for energetic live shows where anything can and sometimes does happen.
‘We really go for it when we perform’ says drummer Tommy Carr. ‘We feed off the energy created and things can go a bit crazy sometimes’
