One time member of harmony trio (and BBC folk-award nominees!) The Devil's Interval, Emily is now a member of Rubus who were featured on fRoots playlist, and she has gained plaudits for her duo with Lauren McCormick (recently appearing at Saddlers Wells, The Roundhouse and The South Bank centre). She was also featured as a soloist on the BBC's latest adaptation of 'Tess of the D'Urbervilles'.
Less well known are her original compositions: these visceral visions of a darker, more brutal Albion, have more in common with PJ Harvey than they do with many on the folk circuit, and are shot through with hints of Alasdair Roberts, Tom Waits and Bjork. Even before their official release Emily’s new songs are selling out venues in the Northeast and swiftly creating a stir beyond the folk scene.
