Airport Girl are Rob Price (vocals/guitar), Alice Oaker (vocals/keyboards, theremin), Tris Ashurst (guitar), Sean Price (bass), Dave Hill (keyboards) and Jon Troy (drums).
Airport Girl were formed in 1997 with most of the members based in the Nottingham/Leicester/Derby area. Their influences range from the Scottish pop sounds of The Pastels and Belle and Sebastian to the American flavours of The Modern Lovers and Pavement.
Airport Girl have released three singles on independent labels ('Between Delta And Delaware' on Fortuna POP!, 'Power Yr Trip' on WIAIWYA and the glorious 'The Foolishness That We Create Through Love Is The Closest We Come To Greatness' on Fortuna POP!) and made several compilation appearances. The B-side of the first single, 'Song for David Jones', was used to soundtrack the goal action on Match of the Day! The band have received airplay and accolades from John Peel and Steve Lamacq (Radio 1), John Kennedy (XFM), Beat Patrol (BBC Radio Scotland), Dean Jackson (BBC Radio Nottingham), Paul McClean (BBC Radio Ulster) and the Student Broadcast Network.
Airport Girl released their brilliant debut album, 'Honey, I'm An Artist' on the 16th April 2001. The album is a joint release between Fortuna POP! (the vinyl) and Matinee (the CD). 'Honey, I'm An Artist' has already been released in the US to great acclaim, topping the Parasol mail-order charts.
Airport Girl continue to record and tour.
